The 2014 Wild West Charity Bike Ride is offering 5 rides to appeal to all levels of riders. From the free 5-mile Family Fun Ride all the way up to a 63-mile Metric Century with 2 big climbs. All the routes are on paved City and County streets.
This year's free 5-mile family fun ride is on the streets of Banning. The route has less than 300' of overall climbing spread out over the 5-mile route. This ride is scheduled to start at 9 am from Repplier Park at San Gorgonio and George Street. Start Time 8:30am
The 10-mile ride is a fairly flat course for those looking for something not too challenging but with beautiful views. This ride takes you along the early portion of the 25-mile course. The route includes portions of north Banning. This ride has just over 600' of gentle climbs. Start Time 7:30am
The 25-mile ride has a long (5 miles) gentle climb north on Highland Springs to Cherry Valley and includes tree lined streets in north Banning. The total ascent on this route is 1,400' with great vistas of undeveloped land, Mount San Gorgonio to the north and Mount San Jacinto to the south. Start Time 7:30am
This year's 35-mile ride follows the early part of the Metric Century route. This route has no
“big” climbs. The climbs are all gentle although two are long. Over the 35 mile ride, there is a
cumulative climb of only 2,233'. About the 21-mile mark the route splits off the Metric Century
route and you enjoy vistas of the San Gorgonio Pass on your ride back to the finish area at
Repplier Park. These wide open spaces and beautiful views are a key feature of this route.
The cut-out for the 35-mile ride is well marked and includes a SAG stop. Start Time 7:00am
The challenging Metric Century (63-miles) takes you past large parcels of undeveloped land
with vistas of both San Gorgonio and San Jacinto mountains. The route includes two big
climbs – Wildwood Canyon to Oak Glen and up San Gorgonio Avenue to The Banning Bench.
With just over 4,900' of climbing, you are sure to get your legs burning. Bring your camera
and share these unforgettable views via Facebook. Start Time 7:00am
